Prelude to IFA 2022: LG 97" OLED, B&O and Sennheiser soundbars, more

29 Aug 2022 | Rasmus Larsen |

At this year's IFA show in Berlin, we can expect LG to launch its largest OLED TV yet, its first 240Hz OLED monitor, and a surprise. B&O and Sennheiser are expected to launch new soundbars.

Europe's largest tech show, IFA, is back after a two-year hiatus due to covid-19. The show is open to everyone (for a fee) between September 2-6 so if you are in the vicinity of Berlin you can experience the latest tech products from companies such as LG, Philips, Samsung and TCL.

FlatpanelsHD is traveling to Berlin and will get exclusive access to see and try many of the new products so be sure to follow FlatpanelsHD this week and weekend. Subscribe to our newsletter, RSS feed, twitter or Facebook. Also check out the IFA 2022 section.

So, what can we expect from IFA 2022?

OLED and miniLED LCD

LG has said that the world's first 97-inch 4K OLED TV (model 97G2) will launch at IFA in addition to the first 240Hz OLED monitor. We hear that LG is planning to unveil another new OLED product at IFA so stay tuned to FlatpanelsHD for more news. IFA is a big show for Philips and we expect the company to officially launch new premium 9-series OLED TVs with the latest generation of Ambilight and B&W speaker technology – perhaps the company even has a couple of surprises for us. TCL will bring its latest TV and audio products to IFA, with a focus on miniLED LCD. The company has already launched its European 2022 line-up but it usually demonstrates its latest display technology, too. IFA will most likely also mark the official launch of TCL's first 98-inch 4K LCD TV.

New premium soundbars

Sennheiser will launch a new premium Ambeo soundbar and Bang & Olufsen has a press event planned at 'The Sound Bar' – we wonder what it could be. However, neither of these two events are open to the public. Samsung and Panasonic will be on the spot too, and we are meeting with them to see and discuss the latest developments but so far we don't know what to expect. Sony is not attending IFA this year. Companies such as LG Display, Roku, Toshiba, and Xperi are also exhibiting at IFA so we look forward more new developments and hopefully some good surprises.
