TCL launches upgraded 2022 6-series miniLED LCD TVs

16 Sep 2022 | Rasmus Larsen |

TCL North America has launched 2022 versions of its popular 6-series and 5-series LCD TVs. The 6-series now has up to 360 miniLED dimming zones and up to 144Hz refresh rate.

TCL's 6-series is one of the most popular value premium TV models in the US and the upgraded version for 2022 is now available in 55, 65 and 75 inches starting at $700, while the more affordable 5-series model without miniLED is available in 50, 55, 65 and 75 inches starting at $430.

- "TCL has maintained its position as one of the top two TV brands in the U.S. because of our continued focus on the consumer and meeting their needs by offering premium products at a great value. The 6-Series has been our most highly-lauded model for delivering advanced features that TVs costing two or three times more would have and our new 2022 version is no different—innovative technology at incomparable value, thanks to the many advantages of being a vertically integrated company," said Chris Hamdorf, SVP, TCL.

Switching back to Roku

In 2022, TCL is switching back from Google TV to Roku after making the opposite switch last year. TCL's Google TVs were last year pulled from shelves at Best Buy due to software issues so it is not surprising to see TCL back in Roku's camp. With Roku OS you have access to Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV app, Disney+, HBO Max, Netflix and many other streaming services. You also get built-in Apple AirPlay 2 and HomeKit.

Up to 360 miniLED zones

The 6-series R655 LCD TVs now feature up to 360 miniLED dimming zones (in 75") and support up to 144Hz refresh rate with HDMI VRR and AMD FreeSync. Two of the HDMI ports can carry HDMI 2.1 bandwidth. The VA LCD panels in the 6-series and 5-series models feature 4K resolution. So far there are no new 8K models for 2022. In addition, they support multi-HDR (HDR10, HDR10+, HLG and Dolby Vision) and Dolby Atmos. TCL's new 6-series and 5-series TVs for 2022 are available now in North America.
