New streaming service SkyShowtime begins roll-out in Europe

SkyShowtime is now available in Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden, and is coming to many more countries in Europe later this year and in early 2023.

SkyShowtime is a joint streaming service from Paramount and Comcast with content from Universal Pictures, Paramount Pictures, Nickelodeon, DreamWorks Animation, Paramount+, Showtime, Sky Studios and Peacock all in one place.

We look forward to sharing further details about launch dates for our other markets and bringing SkyShowtime to even more people across Europe," said SkyShowtime CEO Monty Sarhan referring to the Nordic launch.

The streaming service is available now in the Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden, followed ny Netherlands in Q4 2022. SkyShowtime will continue its roll out across Spain, Portugal, Andorra, and Central & Eastern Europe (CEE) over the coming months and through Q1 2023. CEE markets include Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia and Slovenia.

Once launched across more than 20 countries, SkyShowtime’s apps and content will be available in 18 different languages.

Theatrical releases on SkyShowtime

In the Nordic countries, SkyShowtime costs roughly 7 Euro per month with an introduction offer of 50% on all future bills until the subscription plan is cancelled. SkyShowtime has replaced Paramount+ in the Nordics. At launch, apps are available for Apple TV (tvOS), Android TV / Google TV, and newer LG webOS Smart TVs. It also supports Chromecast. SkyShowtime is powered by Peacock's technical platform and supports up to 1080p and 5.1 Dolby surround in Europe, with plans to launch 4K streaming later. Following their theatrical and home entertainment releases, movies such as Top Gun: Maverick, Jurassic World Dominion, Minions: The Rise of Gru, The Northman, Sing 2, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, The Lost City, Downton Abbey: A New Era, Nope, Belfast, Ambulance and The Bad Guys will be available on SkyShowtime.
