Samsung's 8K ultrawide monitor will have DisplayPort 2.1 and be officially unveiled at CES 2023 in January. The resolution will most likely be 7680x2160.
The upcoming monitor was teased at AMD's presentation of its next-generation GPUs that support 8K output at high refresh rates.
On stage, the presenter revealed that the upcoming Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 will feature DisplayPort 2.1, AMD FreeSync, and 8K horizontal resolution. Odyssey is Samsung's range of gaming monitors and the existing 49-inch G9 debuted at $2500.

AMD mentioned 7680x2160 as the resolution it has tested for 8K ultrawide gaming so Samsung's monitor will most likely use this resolution in a 32:9 aspect ratio. There is no information on refresh rate but since it is a gaming monitor we expect it to handily surpass 60Hz – enabled at 8K by DisplayPort 2.1.
No further details were provided but we can expect Samsung's first 8K ultrawide monitor to be unveiled at CES 2023. Acer, Asus, Dell and LG are also planning to announce DisplayPort 2.1 monitors in 2023.
