Microsoft to raise price of Xbox Series X/S games from $60 to $70 in 2023

06 Dec 2022 | Rasmus Larsen |

Beginning in 2023, games such as Forza Motorsport, Redfall, and Starfield will cost $69.99 at launch – or you can get them on Xbox Game Pass.

Microsoft will join some of the major games publishing and raise the price of its own games next year from $60 to $70. The company has confirm the news in a public statement to IGN.

- "This price reflects the content, scale, and technical complexity of these titles," said a Microsoft spokesperson. "As with all games developed by our teams at Xbox, they will also be available with Game Pass the same day they launch."

Sony, Ubisoft and Take-Two Interactive have already raised prices to $70, or €80 in Europe. Microsoft did not comment on regional pricing. The first Xbox games to get more expensive are Forza Motorsport, Redfall, and Starfield. The alternative is to sign up for Microsoft's $10/month Xbox Game Pass subscription service that where all games developed by Xbox game studios will be available the same day they launch. Unlike Sony, Microsoft has not announced plans to increase the price of Xbox consoles. - Source: IGN
