James Cameron's Avatar and The Abyss will reportedly be released on UHD Blu-ray early next year alongside Avatar: The Way of Water.Update: James Cameron has in a comment to French journalist Arthur Cios confirmed the news about the 4K release of The Abyss.James Cameron himself confirmed in 2017 that Avatar would be remastered in Dolby Vision HDR. Five years later, we are still waiting for the enhanced version of the movie to show up on UHD Blu-ray disc and online. Not only Avatar but also The Abyss will arrive on UHD Blu-ray "early next year" likely in late Q1 2023, according to often-reliable The Digital Bits.The Abyss was released in 1989 by 20th Century Fox, now owned by Disney. Avatar – and Titanic – has been remastered in High Frame Rate with TrueCut Motion to preserve the cinematic look but it is unclear if this version will be available in the UHD Blu-ray box. There is no information on which version of The Abyss is included either. And no information on a Disney+ 4K release either.
