Analyst: iPad Pro and 13" Macbook Air to get OLED displays in 2024

Apple is planning to launch 13-inch Macbook Air, 11-inch iPad Pro and 12.9-inch iPad Pro devices with OLED displays in 2024, according to display supply chain analyst Ross Young.

Earlier this year, Korean newspaper The Elec reported that Apple will start its transition from LCD to OLED displays in iPad and Mac in 2024-2025.

The CEO of Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC), Ross Young, now claims that iPad Pro and Macbook Air will be the first iPad and Mac devices to get OLED, all three in 2024.

Apple is believed to have partnered with South Korean display makers LG Display and Samsung Display to develop a two-stack OLED panel with higher brightness, lower power consumption, and longer lifespan. Ross, who has the highest accuracy amongst Apple sources according to Apple Track, has claimed that all three iPad and Mac devices will support 120Hz variable refresh rate (Apple ProMotion).

A switch to OLED from the current LCD displays with or without miniLED backlights in current Mac and iPad devices would represent a significant upgrade with improved contrast, luminance control, and HDR capabilities. They would also be thinner and more energy efficient in some situations. Apple has already switched from LCD to OLED in iPhone.
