Samsung Electronics will next year expand its QD-OLED TV line-up to include a 77-inch model, according to Korean newspaper ETNews. It will be unveiled at CES 2023.
The larger 77-inch QD-OLED TV will allow Samsung Electronics and other TV makers to offer a direct alternative to the existing 77-inch WOLED-based TVs available today, in addition to the 55 and 65-inch sizes that they currently sell. WOLED is available in sizes up to 97 inches.
The report indicates that next-gen QD-OLED will have improved black levels compared to the current QD-OLED TVs that tend to convert a little light from adjacent pixels or a bright viewing environment, making black appear slightly greyer as documented in FlatpanelsHD's extensive review. Samsung has apparently registered a 'True Black' trademark.
The TV is expected to have 4K resolution, HDR capabilities, Tizen with Gaming Hub, HDMI 2.1 and other features known from Samsung's TVs.

Additional TV makers may launch QD-OLED TVs next year. Philips has publicly acknowledged that it is currently evaluating the panel.
Samsung's first 77-inch QD-OLED TV will be unveiled in early January at CES 2023, according to the report. It will launch in North America and Europe in the first half of 2023.
