Bloomberg's Mark Gurman claims that one of the new monitors that Apple is working on is an update to the 'Pro Display XDR' with 6K resolution that was launched in 2019.
Apple abandoned the monitor segment in 2016 but later returned with a 32-inch 6K Pro monitor for professionals and a 27-inch 5K Studio monitor intended for consumers. The latter includes Apple silicon (A13 Bionic chip) to enable features such as Center Stage og spatial audio.
Apple is developing multiple new external monitors that will likewise include Apple silicon, according to a report by Bloomberg.

- "Apple is working on multiple new external monitors as well, including an update to the Pro Display XDR that was launched alongside the Intel Mac Pro in 2019. It is possible, however, that the company’s next high-end display will ship after the Mac Pro, as the computer is further along in development than the monitor," said Mark Gurman, Bloomberg.
- "Those new monitors — like the Studio Display launched with the Mac Studio — will include Apple silicon. That helps the screens rely less on resources from the attached computer."
Both of Apple's current monitors rely on LCD technology. Bloomberg did not provide further details but supply chain analyst Ross Young has previously said that Apple may release a 27-inch LCD monitor with miniLED and ProMotion (variable refresh rate) in the first quarter of 2023.
Apple is planning to switch to OLED in Mac computers but these products will not be ready until 2024 at the earliest.
