Asus unveils 240Hz OLED, first 540Hz LCD and more new monitors

10 Jan 2023 | Rasmus Larsen |

Asus announced a slew of new monitors at CES 2023 including a 240Hz OLED, a 540Hz LCD, first DisplayPort 2.1 monitor, and a new 32-inch OLED graphics monitor.

The 27-inch Rog PG27AQDM is similar to the other 27-inch 240Hz OLED gaming monitors announced by Acer, LG and Dough, all based on LG Display's WOLED panel. It features 2560x1440 resolution and 0.03 ms response time. In addition, Asus says that it has a custom heatsink and can reach up to 1000 nits peak brightness (3% window). It will be available in Q1 2023.

Another gaming monitor is the PG248QP which is advertised as the world's first with 540Hz (overclocked) refresh rate. It is a modified version of the 500Hz monitor that Asus announced last year. It features a 24-inch TN LCD panel from AU Optronics that delivers speed but not great picture quality. It supports Nvidia G-Sync and will be available in Q2 2023.

Asus also unveiled another OLED monitor, the 31.5-inch ProArt PA32DCM. This one is intended for work with graphics, video, and photo. It uses a new generation of JOLED's RGB-stripe OLED panel with up to 700 peak brightness, over 300 nits fullscreen, and 99% DCI-P3. It supports HDR10 and HLG, and has been pre-calibrated to Delta E < 1 color difference. It will be available later this year. In addition, Asus announced the curved 49-inch 32:9 XG49WCR LCD gaming monitor with 5120x1440 resolution and 165Hz refresh rate, the 32-inch PG32UQXR LCD monitor with miniLED (576 zones), 1000 nits peak brightness on paper, 160Hz, and for the first time DisplayPort 2.1 in addition to HDMI 2.1. There is also the 27-inch ProArt PA279CRV for graphics but be aware that this is a standard IPS LCD monitor. Pricing details will be confirmed later.
