Hisense is expanding miniLED to its entire "ULED" range of LCD TVs where U8K doubles the number of dimming zones. Features include Dolby Vision, HDR10+ and Google TV / Vidaa.
MiniLED's appeal faded at CES 2023 as brighter MLA-based WOLED and QD-OLED panels were announced, but Hisense still sees potential in conventional LCD technology.
A 110-inch 'ULED X' LCD TV with miniLED features 8K resolution, over 5000 dimming zones, and a 3.1.2ch speaker system. Hisense claims that it can reach 2500 nits peak brightness. It will also be known as the UX series and be available in 85 inches with 4K resolution.
- "Our engineers were tasked with making the best LED TV available, and they delivered with ULED X," said David Gold, President of Hisense USA. "But at Hisense, we’re not just about innovating, we’re about making technology widely available. UX ensures big technology isn’t just a claim – it’s a reality for consumers."

Hisense U8K, U7K and U6K
The U8K is the second-most advanced miniLED LCD TV announced by Hisense for 2023. It has more than double the number of dimming zones compared to last year's U8 and the company claims it can reach up to 1500 nits peak brightness. It also features an anti-glare coating, HDMI 2.1, 144Hz, IMAX enhanced, Filmmaker Mode, Dolby Vision IQ, HDR10+, ATSC 3.0, and WiFi 6E. U8K will be available in 55 to 85 inches.
The U7K series is a less advanced miniLED LCD TV although with many of the same features including HDMI 2.1, Dolby Vision IQ, HDR10+, HLG, Quantum Dot, IMAX Enhanced, ATSC 3.0 and Filmmaker Mode. It will be available in 55 to 85 inches, too.
Lastly, U6K will be Hisense's most affordable miniLED LCD TV which it refers to as "entry-level premium". It will have fewer dimming zones than the more expensive models and include only a 60Hz LCD panel. It supports Dolby Vision and HDR10+ as well as Dolby Atmos sound. The HDMI ports are HDMI 2.0 but support eARC. U6K will be available in 50 to 85 inches.
The European models will this year be more similar to the North American models in terms of panel/picture features, but we are awaiting more details including availability and pricing, all of which will be confirmed later.
Hisense continues to promote its Laser short-throw projectors as 'Laser TVs'.

Google TV, not Vidaa
Last year, Hisense started a transition away from its homegrown Vidaa platform to Google TV. This transition will continue in 2023.
- "Google TV is now available on Hisense ULED TVs and Laser products, aside from the Smart Mini Projector," the company's North American division confirmed.
However, at least some but possibly all of the 2023 models will in Europe continue to come with Hisense's own Vidaa platform. We are chasing confirmation on this.
