Netflix has slashed the prices of its subscription plans in over 100 countries by up to 50%. It affects Netflix's smaller markets in Asia, South America and the Middle East, but not the US and Europe.
The price cuts will impact around 10 million subscribers in countries such as Philippines, Vietnam, Indonesia, and Thailand. Netflix's basic plan has been cut by up to 50% in some countries while the other plans were cut 17–25%, according to analyst firm Ampere. Check Netflix's website in your region.
- "We’re always exploring ways to improve our members’ experience," Netflix said in a statement. "We can confirm that we are updating the pricing of our plans in certain countries."
Netflix has not announced plans to lower its prices in big markets such as the US, the UK, Australia, and European countries.
The move comes ahead of Netflix's launch of new tools to curb password sharing.
