Philips will not launch a QD-OLED TV this year but the company's first QD-OLED monitor is now available in the UK, Germany and other European markets at a lower price than originally announced.
The new PC monitor is intended for gaming and is based on the QD-OLED panel from Samsung Display that is already found in gaming monitors from Dell Alienware and Samsung Electronics. With the launch of the Philips 34M2C8600, there are now four QD-OLED monitors to choose from in Europe.
It's a curved 34-inch panel with 3440x1440 resolution (21:9 aspect ratio) and a 175Hz refresh rate with or without VRR. QD-OLED technology enables PC monitors to actually deliver HDR (High Dynamic Range) pictures in games – not just on paper – with deep blacks, up to 1000 nits brightness (3% window), and an expanded color gamut. It supports HDR10.

Philips' monitor is fitted with one DisplayPort 1.4, two HDMI 2.0 ports and one USB-C. In addition, it has built-in speakers and 4-sided Ambiglow – similar to Ambilight in Philips TVs.
In addition, Philips is planning to launch a 42-inch 42M2N8900 monitor built on LG Display's WOLED display technology later in 2023.
