MediaTek's Pentonic 1000 chip will bring new features to Sony's 2023 QD-OLED (A95L) and select 2023 Philips TVs, and make Google TV snappier. The first benchmarks have surfaced.
Five sets of Geekbench 4 results have been posted online based on a 'TPV Philips Google TV TA1', as spotted by Philips blog Toengel.net. This is the new hardware platform in 2023 Philips TVs – the company's first with Google TV.
At its launch event in February (first look article here), Philips cautioned that these are early prototypes so performance in the final versions of the TVs may vary, as may Sony's implementation of Pentonic 1000 in the A95L QD-OLED TV.
Nevertheless, here they are:

Almost as fast as Nvidia Shield
If accurate, it means that Pentonic 1000 is notably faster (+110% single-core CPU) than the MediaTek MT5887 used in 2019-2020 Philips Android TVs and somewhat faster (+10% single-core CPU) than the MediaTek MT5895 in 2021-2022 Philips TVs and 2021-2022 Sony TVs (and Sony X900H), according to previous benchmarks run by FlatpanelsHD in our reviews. The gains are slightly higher for multi-core CPU performance.
Additionally, it would put Pentonic 1000 close to the 2019 Nvidia Shield but still far behind even the 2017 Apple TV 4K. Hardly a revolution.

We haven't spotted any GPU benchmarks for Pentonic 1000 yet.
Pentonic 1000 also brings other capabilities to the table including support for Dolby Vision at 4K 120Hz. It still supports only two HDMI ports with HDMI 2.1 bandwidth for 4K120. MediaTek has announced a more capable Pentonic 2000 chip intended for 8K TVs.
