At the time of launch in late 2022, the new Disney+ plan with ads was not supported on Roku devices. It is now, the company has confirmed.
Last week, Netflix added support for its ad-supported plan on Apple TV and now Disney's ad-supported plan comes to Roku devices, another step in the industry's quest to offer cheaper ad-supported plans.
- "Hi Streamers! Disney+ Basic (With Ads) is now available on Roku, America’s leading TV streaming platform," announced Roku.
Disney+ Basic with ads costs $8 a month, while Disney+ Premium without ads costs $10.99 a month.
Disney's ad-supported plan still supports 4K, HDR10 and Dolby Vision, but there is no support for Dolby Atmos, downloads, GroupWatch or SharePlay.
To get Disney+ Basic working on your Roku device you simply need to update the Disney+ app.
