After replacing miniLED LCD with OLED displays in iPad and MacBook products, Apple is predicted by market research firm Omdia to launch desktop Macs with QD-OLED or WOLED.
In a new research paper, spotted by Display Daily, Omdia predicts that OLED's share of the 'mobile PC' market will grow from 1.4% to 14% by 2028, driven by Apple's switch to OLED displays in iPads starting in 2024 and MacBooks starting in 2026.

OLED iMacs in 2027?
Omdia furthermore believes that Apple is planing to switch from LCD and miniLED LCD to OLED displays in some desktop Mac products, or iMac, in 2027, as outlined in the roadmap below.
Omdia says that it could be either QD-OLED (from Samsung Display) or WOLED (from LG Display) displays.

This is certainly not the first we have heard about Apple plans to switch to OLED displays. Last year, Korean media reported that Apple is working with both LG Display and Samsung Display to develop two-stack OLED panels – what Omdia refers to as 'Hybrid OLED'.
Omdia also believes that Apple is working on a foldable iPad. Analyst Mink-Chi Kuo previously said that it could come as soon as 2024 while Omdia believes it will come in 2026.
Apple never comments on unannounced products.
