Sony will finally bring to Europe its first HDMI 2.1 receiver for 4K120 and 8K with TVs and game consoles. TA-AN1000 is the successor to STR-DN1080.
Sony announced in February a new line-up of HDMI 2.1 receivers for North America. Sony Europe today confirmed that the most affordable of the bunch will launch in Europe in June.
It will be known in Europe as TA-AN1000 whereas it is called STR-AN1000 in North America. AN1000 is a 7.2-channel receiver with Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, 360 Reality Audio etc. For the first time, it can connect wirelessly to Sony's rear speakers (SA-RS5, SA-RS3S) and subwoofers (SA-SW5, SA-SW3).

HDMI 2.1 for game consoles, PCs
HDMI 2.1 enables 8K and 4K120 from e.g. Xbox Series X or PlayStation 5 to let users pass through the video/audio signal via the receiver on the HDMI path to the TV screen.
Optional HDMI 2.1 features such as eARC, VRR, ALLM and the special PS5 integrations with Sony TVs are also supported. The two HDMI 2.1 ports have 40 Gbps bandwidth, Sony confirmed to FlatpanelsHD earlier this year.
Future media players are also expected to get HDMI 2.1 ports for 4K120 and 8K.

€999 and £999
Sony's more expensive 'AZ' receivers have been confirmed for North America only.
Sony TA-AN1000 will be available in Europe in June 2023 for €999 / £999.
