LG is bringing even larger gaming monitors to the market, this time in the form of the curved 49-inch 49GR85DC with a VA LCD panel.
LG, Samsung and other manufacturers have started launching ultra-fast OLED and QD-OLED monitors so the slower LCD monitors are starting to mov up in size to remain relevant.

Notably, LG's new 49-inch 49GR85DC features a VA LCD panel rather than LG Display's IPS LCD panel type which is used in most of LG Electronics' LCD TVs and monitors.

Dual QHD resolution
49GR85DC has dual QHD (5120x1440) resolution in an ultra-wide 32:9 aspect ratio, 240Hz refresh rate, and a 3000:1 native contrast ratio. LG claims that it also delivers 1000 nits peak brightness but you should not expect good HDR picture quality – for PC gaming in HDR you need OLED.
LG says that 49GR85DC is "like having two 16:9 monitors side by side" and noted that "240Hz in Dual QHD resolution requires a PC with a graphics card that supports both HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort 1.4". It also supports Picture-in-Picture (PIP) and Picture-by-Picture (PBP) modes for productivity and multitasking.
The LG UltraGear 49GR85DC is available now in the US for $1300, the UK for £1,500, and Germany for €1300. LG said that it will reach other markets in Europe and Asia later this month.
