Microsoft has announced an expansion of its Xbox line-up to include a new Series S console with a black finish and double the storage capacity. It arrives September 1 for $350.
Soon there will be three Xbox Series consoles. Series X remains the flagship while Series S will be offered in two variants; the existing white version with 512GB of storage and a new black version with 1TB of storage – the same as Series X.
The new Series S comes bundled with same black game controller as Series X.
At the event, the CEO of Xbox also said that the more powerful Xbox Series X is no longer in short supply.
Not a mid-generation console refresh
It is not quite the mid-generation console refresh that some have been waiting for. Sony is rumored to launch both a more powerful PlayStation 5 Pro and a redesigned PlayStation 5 Slim.

It is already possible to expand storage capacity of the base Series S with external storage solutions such as Western Digital's 512GB and 1TB expansion cards starting at $80.
The black Series S will join the Xbox line-up on September 1 for $350 / €350. Local pricing will be confirmed closer to launch.
