Samsung's first 49" QD-OLED monitor arrives this month for $2200 / €2200
Unveiled earlier this year, Samsung's first 49-inch QD-OLED is also the world's first 240Hz QD-OLED monitor. It will set you back $2200 / £2000 / €2200 The Samsung Odyssey G9 was announced at CES 2023 in January and is the result of expanded QD-OLED production by Samsung Display that has also enabled it to start mass production of 77-inch QD-OLED TVs this year.It is a 49-inch ultra-wide QD-OLED monitor designed for gaming. It features 240Hz refresh rate and Samsung now claims a 0.03ms (GtG) response time rather than the 0.1ms response time it quoted at CES in January.
More expensive than LG's
LG is also claiming 0.03ms response time for its 240Hz OLED monitors including the 45-inch 45GR95QE that carries a lower suggested retail price of $1700. - "Building on the success of Odyssey OLED G8 (G85SB), the new monitor joins the lineup to open a new era of OLED gaming. Measuring 49 inches in size with a 1800R curvature, the Odyssey OLED G9 is the first OLED monitor to offer Dual Quad High Definition (DQHD; 5,120 x 1,440) resolution with a 32:9 ratio," said Samsung. Asus and MSI have also announced 49-inch monitors based on the same QD-OLED panel. Both are expected to launch later this year. Samsung's 49-inch QD-OLED monitor will ship in the US starting June 26 and is available for pre-order now for $2200 / £2000 / €2200.
