TCL is leading the way in making ultra-large TVs affordable and the company has now unveiled an even cheaper 98-inch P745 4K LCD model for Europe.
Last year, TCL launched the 98-inch C735 which for the first time made a 98-inch TV affordable in Europe. The company launched a similar 98-inch model in North America with R754.
More recently, Samsung introduced a 98-inch 4K LCD TV built on the same panel from TCL CSoT and later this year Sony will launch its version.

TCL will bolster its lead in the segment by soon launching the cheaper 98-inch P745 (98P745). It lacks the local dimming capabilities of the existing 98-inch C735 but still features 4K resolution and Google TV with access to local and international apps as well as built-in Chromecast.
Unlike the smaller P745 sizes, the 98-inch version features a 100/120 Hz LCD panels and HDMI 2.1 ports. TCL says that it supports 144Hz VRR input but it is unclear if there are any bandwidth limitations – we are chasing confirmation.
The existing 98-inch TCL C735 will remain available in Europe for the time being.

The 98-inch P745 supports HDR in software (HDR10, HDR10+, Dolby Vision) but we would not expect it to deliver HDR picture quality due to the lack of LED local dimming. It also supports Dolby Atmos audio decoding and passthrough.
TCL 98P745 will be available in Europe in August/September for 2800 Euro.
TCL also recently announced a new high-end 9-series 98-inch miniLED LCD TV (98C955) in Japan but so far there is no word on a European version. TCL usually announces new TVs for the second half of the year at the IFA show in Berlin in early September.
