Roku is currently testing a new homescreen with four apps in four rows, an evolution of Roku's classic three-by-three homescreen.
Some Roku owners on Reddit are already seeing the refreshed homescreen, which is characterized as a test by Roku in a statement to Cord Cutters News. The final design may change.
Still, it represents the first change to the Roku homescreen in almost ten years.

It makes sense to make more apps visible on the homescreen without having to scroll, as users today have access to an expanded array of streaming services and, in addition, own larger displays compared to ten years ago.
Similarly, Apple will soon expand its homescreen rows to each include six apps, up from five currently, with the launch of tvOS 17 this September.
Roku often launches new hardware in the fall so look out for an official announcement.
