LG's ultra high-end 136" LED TV now comes with B&O speakers & remote

LG is making one of its first LED TVs – marketed as 'Micro LED' – even more exclusive through a new partnership with luxury electronics brand Bang & Olufsen.

Like Samsung, LG is tinkering with building TV displays out of smaller LED modules. The Magnit, as it is called, is one of LG's very first LED TVs – no LCD panel required. This implies that each pixel consists of LEDs.

LG Electronics and Bang & Olufsen announced today that they have partnered to launch an even more exclusive version of the 136-inch LG Magnit, which is marketed as 'Micro LED'. The LED TV features 4K resolution, 120Hz refresh rate and up to 2000 nits brightness.

Sound and controls by B&O

LG launched the first version of its 136-inch LED TV last year, priced at a staggering $300,000. Back then, LG implied that the LED TV would eventually be sold through select B&O stores. What's new in today's announcement is that the 136-inch TV now supports B&O's remote control (update: requires B&O's System integrator, i.e. Beosound Theatre or Stage), and a pair of Beolab 90 speakers is included in the bundle. The price was not disclosed, but we do not expect it to have gotten any cheaper, considering that the Beolab 90 costs $80,000 per pair. What is clear, though, is that true direct-view LED TVs are still not close to the mainstream. - "Beolab 90 is a floor-standing speaker that adapts output to the space it is in and the type of audio it is reproducing. With 8,200 watts per speaker, 18 premium drivers, 14 channels of 300-watt ICE power amplifiers and 4 channels of 1,000-watt Class D Heliox amplifiers, Bang & Olufsen’s Beolab 90 makes music and soundtracks come to life in a way that few speakers can," the companies said in a joint press release.
