TCL Europe has today unveiled three new ranges of LCD TVs with miniLED zone dimming. The flagship X955 will be available in 85 and 98 inches with up to 5000 dimming zones.
TCL is doubling down on miniLED backlighting technology by increasing the number of dimming zones and peak brightness. X955 has over 5000 nits peak brightness in 98 inches, the company said.

This achievement is made possible thanks to TCL’s breakthroughs with its Mini LED technologies, bringing a 27.5% increase in brightness, 33% increase in focusing angles and a 210% increase in light control precision," announced TCL Europe.

Notably, X955 features 4K resolution despite being launched only in 85 and 98 inches. TCL confirmed earlier this year that it has no plans for new 8K models in 2023 due to the extremely slow 8K TV market.
X955 also features all of TCL's other TV features including Google TV, multi-HDR support (HDR10, HDR10+, HLG, Dolby Vision), HDMI 2.1, and the AiPQ 3.0 video processor. The sound system is a 4.2.2-channel solution that supports Dolby Atmos.

TCL C955 and C805
In addition to X955, TCL announced the high-end C955 with up to 2000 miniLED dimming zones and 2000 nits peak brightness in 98 inches.
C955 will also be available in 65, 75, and 85 inches with fewer dimming zones to match the smaller screen sizes.

C955 is the step up from the existing C845, which features up to 896 dimming zones in 85 inches. Other than that, C955 comes with the same features as C845 plus a more powerful 120W speaker system for Dolby Atmos.

Lastly, TCL announced C805 (C755 outside Europe) which will be available in sizes up 50, 55, 65, 75, 85, and 98 inches. It will be equipped with 144Hz LCD panels with up to 1300 nits peak brightness. TCL said that the 65-inch size features 500 miniLED dimming zones.

Comprehensive range of 98" TVs
The new TVs can be seen a direct alternatives to Samsung's "Neo QLED" LCD models that increasingly use TCL panels.
It is worth noting that with the addition of the three new ranges, TCL will have an extensive line-up of 98-inch 4K LCD TVs from mid-range to flagship. TCL CSOT produces the LCD panel for all current 98-inch TVs including those from Samsung and Sony.
