Ahead of CES 2024 in January, Hisense is teasing its latest and most advanced miniLED LCD TV with 40,000 backlight zones and 10,000 nits peak brightness.
It is the next evolution of Hisense's "ULED X" technology that combines a miniLED zone-dimming backlight with an LCD panel.
Hisense says that it features over 40000 backlight zones, but it is not clear if each one can be controlled individually. The company also claims that it can reach up to 10,000 nits peak brightness, which is significantly higher than current OLED TVs at 1500-2000 nits and current miniLED LCD TVs at 2000-4000 nits.

It achieves this feat with 24V high-output miniLEDs, explained Hisense, and it reaches 95% of the BT.2020 color space. The company made no mention of the resolution.
However, it is important to remember that that the actual peak brightness depends on the complexity of the image due to the limitations of zone dimming. LCD TVs that are advertised with, for example, 2000 nits rarely typically do not reach those levels with real content.
100-inch and larger TVs
At CES 2023, Hisense showcased a 110-inch "ULED X" with 8K resolution, over 5000 zones and 2500 nits peak brightness. The company has seemingly spent the last year refining its concept.
The 2024 version of the 110-inch LCD TV will be known as 110UX and will debut officially at CES 2024 in Las Vegas this coming January.
It will outshine the current batch of 98-inch LCD TVs from Samsung, Sony, and TCL. The latter is planning to launch a 115-inch miniLED LCD TV next year.
