Hisense unveils 2024 U8N, U7N, U6N miniLCD TVs, plus 100" U76N

22 Jan 2024 | Rasmus Larsen |

Hisense will this year launch upgraded miniLED LCD TVs with Google TV in the US and its homegrown Vidaa in Europe. There will be an "inexpensive" 100-inch UN76N.

In addition to the high-end UX range of miniLED LCD TVs that will be available in up to 110 inches, Hisense is also planning to refresh its line-up of normal TVs, with sizes up to 100 inches.

The Chinese company's 2024 models, U6N, U7N, U76N and U8N, will replace last year's U6K, U7K, and U8K. These miniLED LCD TVs will compete head-to-head with models from the likes of TCL and Samsung.

- "With features including 144Hz native refresh rates, a new Game Bar feature, low input lag/ALLM, G-Sync compatibility, Dolby Gaming, Freesync Premium Pro, Game Mode Pro, and more, gamers as well as sports fans will enjoy seamlessly synchronized and fast-pasted on-screen action. For bustling households, future-proof features such as Wi-Fi 6e and NEXTGEN TV (ATSC 3.0) ensure a hassle-free and uninterrupted viewing experience," announced Hisense.

Up to 3000 nits

Hisense claims that U8N hits up to 3000 nits peak brightness from up to 2000 dimming zones on a VA LCD panel. Meanwhile, U7N is claimed to hit up to 1500 nits from up to 500 local dimming zones. With such a relatively small number of dimming zones, we would not expect the TVs to hit those highs with actual content, but Hisense is clearly making efforts to push LCD brightness higher in the face of increased competition from high-brightness OLED TVs. Last year, Hisense streamlined its North American and European TV line-ups to make the TV models more or less identical, except for one big difference which remains in place in 2024. The North American models will run Google TV while the European models will run Hisense's homegrown Vidaa, which is missing many local apps.

100-inch U76N series

Last year's 100-inch U8K will carry over to 2024 but Hisense is adding a more affordable option as part of its 7 series, specifically the 100-inch U76N which is a separate model from U7N. The 100-inch U76N will not be equipped with a miniLED backlight but rather a traditional LED backlight with just 256 dimming zones.

Besides the downgraded LED backlight, U76N comes with most of the same features as U7N including the 144Hz 4K LCD panel. The panel type was not confirmed. Launch and pricing details will be announced later so for now compare specifications in the TV Database (use orange icon) or click on the individual model numbers in the table below.
