The YouTube Kids app on Google TV, Smart TVs, Apple TV, and FireTV will no longer work as of July 2024. Instead, Google refers kids to the main YouTube app.
The standalone YouTube Kids app provides a safe and convenient way for families to limit their kids' YouTube activity to kids-friendly videos only.
In July, Google will remove the app from all TV platforms including Amazon FireTV, Android TV, Google TV, Apple TV, LG webOS Smart TV, and Samsung Tizen Smart TV.
- "YouTube Kids is moving: In July, the YouTube Kids app icon on your TV will be going away. But, you can still use YouTube Kids on your TV by going to your child's profile in the YouTube app," Google wrote on its support page.
In the main YouTube app, families will have to set up user profiles and limit access to the adults' profile(s). Upon opening the app, a profile switcher will then be shown.
The standalone YouTube Kids app will remain available on mobile platforms.
