New Beoconnect Core lets you connect old B&O speakers to any TV
Bang & Olufsen has launched the Beoconnect Core with HDMI eARC and powerlink to let you connect old B&O speakers to any third-party TV model. It also features AirPlay, Chromecast and multiroom. The small box is designed to bridge legacy Bang & Olufsen speakers, dating back over 30 years, with modern devices and streaming technology. The way it works is that you connect your B&O speakers via Powerlink to the box. Then you connect the box to your TV's HDMI eARC/ARC port, alternatively optical. The box will automatically switch on and back to standby together with your TV, when connected over HDMI. Volume can be controlled with your TV remote.- "Our aim is to build product icons that can last a lifetime and Beoconnect Core is an important addition to our product offering, enabling us to deliver on this longevity promise. Beoconnect Core connects our past with our future and comes with our replaceable Mozart streaming module that can easily be upgraded to the newest technology," says Michael Henriksson, VP of Product Marketing at Bang & Olufsen. Beoconnect Core supports stereo only, so your TV must be set to stereo output. Surround sound formats cannot be decoded.
AirPlay and Chromecast built-in
In addition, Beoconnect Core supports Apple AirPlay, Spotify Connect, Chromecast built-in and Tidal Connect, effectively turning old B&O speakers into a wireless speaker system. As highlighted by the company, Beoconnect Core is equipped with the replaceable 'Mozart' module, allowing users to upgrade it for a fee in the future in case B&O launches a new module with extra capabilities. It also has USB and line-in ports for turntablets and other sources. In addition, it supports Bang & Olufsen's multiroom system. Being a B&O product, it comes with a high price tag.
