HBO Max and Discovery+ are today merging in large parts of Europe. The new streaming service Max is now available here. Dune Part 2 also premieres today on Max.

Following the launch in North America in May 2023, Max is today launching in Andorra, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, Hungary, Kosovo, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Norway, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, and Sweden. It will soon expand to Poland, Netherlands, France, and Belgium too.
Max will have a different pricing structure than HBO Max. Here is an example from Spain:

There will be an optional Max Sports plan too that will be available on top for €5/month. It will include tennis from Roland Garros, cycling from the Giro d'Italia, La Vuelta a España and Tour de France and golf from the PGA Tour, amongst other things, depending on the region.
In Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Netherlands, Romania, Poland, France and Belgium there will also be a cheaper ad-supported plan.
4K is now a premium option
Max offers content from HBO, Warner Bros, Discovery, Cartoon Network, Adult Swim, ID, TLC and the DC universe.
This includes titles such as Barbie, Game of Thrones, Friends, House of the Dragon, Succession, Wonka and Dune. With the European launch today, Max is also debuting Dune Part 2 in all available regions in 4K.
Unfortunately, Max is moving 4K, HDR10, Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos to the most expensive Premium plan.
Subscribers with lifetime discount will keep the 50% discount on the Max Standard plan, but UHD support will eventually be removed. It is not possible to upgrade to the Premium plan without losing the 50% discount, according to Max.
There's a new app
If you are an existing HBO Max subscriber, you will have to delete the HBO Max app and download the new Max app, which is available starting today. You can use your existing login credentials.
The app can be downloaded on Amazon Fire TV, Android TV (Google TV), Apple TV (tvOS), LG webOS Smart TVs (webOS 3.5 or later), Samsung Tizen Smart TVs (2016 or later), Roku, PlayStation, and Xbox. The mobile app supports AirPlay and Chromecast.

The app is not currently available on smaller TV platforms such as Panasonic's MyHomeScreen, Hisense's Vidaa, and Titan OS in some Philips TVs.
Goodbye HBO Max. Welcome Max
This is the goodbye to HBO Max, while Discovery+ will remain available as a separate app for the time being, despite Discovery content also being available through Max.
