TCL America's flagship QM851G mirrors TCL Europe's X955 with more than 5000 miniLED dimming zones and up to 5000 nits peak brightness. You can read FlatpanelsHD's first-look report (with measurements) here.
QM851G will compete directly with Samsung's high-end "Neo QLED," Sony's Bravia 9 (XR90), and Hisense's upcoming 2024 "ULED" models. These are all marketing names for the same thing: LCD panels with a miniLED zone dimming backlight.
2024 TCL models available now
TCL has almost completely switched from Roku to Google TV for its North American TV models. The company is also highlighting features such as the AIPQ Pro processor, HDR10+, and Dolby Vision IQ.
TCL's step-down model, QM751G, features miniLED zone dimming with up to 1300 zones in the largest sizes and up to 2000 nits peak brightness.
