Apple is reportedly working on bringing the Apple TV app to Android mobile devices. Will it be limited to Apple TV+ or also include movie rentals/purchases and sports?
The Apple TV app has been notably absent on Android mobile devices, despite being available on most competing TV platforms, including Google TV, alongside other popular streaming apps such as Amazon Prime Video, Disney+ and Netflix.
That may finally change soon.
- "Apple Inc. is seeking a senior engineer to help build a television and sports app for Android, a sign the company is finally bringing its TV+ service to the rival smartphone platform," reports Bloomberg.
When and what?
No firm details were provided in the report, so the timeline remains unclear.
It is also unclear whether it will be the limited Apple TV+ app, which provides access only to the Apple TV+ subscription service, or the full Apple TV app, which also offers movie rentals and purchases.
The Apple Music app is already available on Android and has more than 100 million downloads. This app, however, is not available for Android TV / Google TV.
