The Tidal app has already been removed from Roku and Fire TV, and will be removed from Samsung Smart TVs next month.
For years, Tidal has been available and functional on Smart TVs. For example, the app arrived on Samsung Smart TVs in 2018, so it is not clear why the company has now decided to drop support for a range of TV devices.
The music streaming service has been informing customers about the change via email.
- "After July 8, 2024, TIDAL will no longer be available on Samsung Smart TVs," the email reads.
Your alternatives
Tidal still offers apps for Apple TV (tvOS), Android TV, Google TV and Vizio SmartCast TVs. It also supports AirPlay and Chromecast, according to the company's website.
AirPlay is featured in newer Samsung Smart TVs as well as some Roku and Fire TVs, allowing you to listen to music from Tidal on your TV via an iPhone or iPad. Chromecast is not integrated into Samsung, Roku or Fire TVs.
Interestingly, LG TVs are no longer listed on Tidal's website either, but the app still works.

Alternatively, you can use Apple Music or Spotify on multiple TV platforms. Apple Music has a wide selection of music videos, while Spotify is in the process of adding music videos in select countries.
