The three new audio systems from Sony, unveiled in April, are now available in major markets as premium Dolby Atmos and DTS:X solutions.
These include the Bravia Theatre Bar 9 (HT-A9000), Bravia Theatre Bar 8 (HT-A8000) and Bravia Theatre Quad (HT-A9M2). The first two are Sony’s most powerful soundbars to date, while the Quad replaces the HT-A9 as Sony's unique 360-degree audio system.
The products were first unveiled in April, where Flatpanels had the opportunity to listen to them.
Can stand alone or be expanded
Bar 9 and Bar 8 are 7.0.2 and 5.0.2-channel soundbars, respectively, capable of standing alone or being expanded with Sony's existing wireless rear speakers and subwoofers. The Quad features 16 speaker units and can only be expanded with a subwoofer.
The three new audio systems from Sony are set to compete with premium Atmos soundbars such as Sonos Arc, Sennheiser Ambeo Max and Samsung's new HW-Q990D. FlatpanelsHD will soon test the Sony Quad.

Sony highlighted features such as 360 Spatial Sound Mapping, which creates "phantom speakers" in the room, Dolby Atmos, DTS:X and IMAX Enhanced (pending a firmware update) as well as HDMI 2.1 passthrough for 4K120 from PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, in addition to HDMI eARC.
Additionally, Sony is launching the Bravia Theatre U (HT-AX7), a neckband speaker for TV sound.
