At IFA 2024, Hisense has unveiled the HT Saturn, which rivals Sony's 360 home theater speaker system as an alternative to the traditional soundbar.
In 2021, Sony launched a new type of home theater speaker system with the HT-A9 (review here), consisting of four separate speakers. Earlier this year, it succeeded by the Bravia Theater Quad (review coming soon).
These systems are an alternative to the traditional soundbar, which has clear limitations in its form factor.
Hisense follows Sony's lead
Hisense is now following Sony's lead with the reveal of the HT Saturn, comprising four separate speakers and a subwoofer, all connecting wirelessly to a control box (though they all still need power, obviously). The control box must be connected to the TV's audio output.
- "Speakers are wirelessly connectable and all the latest technologies are integrated: from Dolby Atmos to DTS:X and Pure Surround tech. With its 720W Max Audio power it will give you the experience of being in the middle of the action of a favourite movie or in front of the stage of your top music artist - except you will be in the comfort of your home or office," announced Hisense.
Better than the soundbar?
In our HT-A9 review, we found it to be a better – but also more expensive – solution than the typical soundbar. We have often argued that wireless connectivity is essential to get most households to consider better speakers for their living rooms, and we are now closer than ever.

The Hisense HT Saturn supports both Dolby Atmos and DTS:X. Hisense claims 720W max audio output. A remote control is included in the box.
It is an expansion of Hisense's current audio line-up, which currently includes the 5.1.2-channel AX5125H soundbar with Dolby Atmos and DTS:X as well as the more affordable HS3100 and HS5100 soundbars.
We do not have full specifications yet, and there are no indications of launch timing or pricing. More details will follow as we get them.
