The new streaming box from Google has arrived in stores. It is bigger and more expensive than Chromecast, which it replaces, but it has some new tricks.
The Google TV Streamer was unveiled in August as a streaming box with 4K, HDR10+ and Dolby Vision support. It doubles as a Matter and Thread hub for the connected home.
The box comes with a more powerful processor, more storage and Android 14 preloaded. It still has a built-in Chromecast function. The remote control is slightly longer, but the bigger news is the new 'Magic' button (star), which can be user-configured.
Available in major regions
Google TV Streamer is available starting today, September 24, in major countries for $100 / €120 / £100. It will be available later today in more countries.
You can find it now in the US here, the UK here and Germany here.
It replaces the Chromecast dongle, which has been discontinued entirely. The price of the Google TV Streamer is nearly double the current price of the Chromecast.
