Samsung starts upgrading 2023 Smart TVs from Tizen 7.0 to 8.0

18 Oct 2024 | Rasmus Larsen |

Samsung's new firmware, gradually rolling out starting this month, is upgrading Tizen 7.0 to 8.0 on 2023 models, with UI tweaks and some new features.

After recently announcing plans to finally upgrade Tizen in Smart TVs and expand its One UI – known from Galaxy smartphones – to Smart TVs, Samsung has now begun the rollout.

Samsung's 2023 models (QN*C, S*C, CU*) launched in spring 2023 with Tizen OS 7.0, with no plans for upgrades. The change of plans came after Samsung, the world's largest TV maker, faced growing pressure as the only TV maker not offering OS upgrades.

The new firmware (ver. 2011) now rolling out upgrades the Tizen OS in 2023 models to version 8.0, the same version found in Samsung's 2024 models. The rollout is gradual, so you may have to wait weeks for it to reach your TV, depending on your location.
