Samsung has lost its leadership position in the market for TVs over 80 inches to TCL. In response, the company is reportedly planning to launch TVs exceeding 100 inches next year.
Just four years ago, Samsung dominated the 'super large TV' segment (over 80 inches), with LG in a distant second and Chinese brands vying for the scraps.
However, according to data from market research firm Omdia, a pretty spectacular turnaround has occurred, with TCL now leading the market and Hisense in third place, as of Q2 2024.

Samsung to launch 100" TVs next year
Samsung introduced its first 98-inch 4K model in 2021 and expanded its range of 98-inch TVs to lower-priced models in 2023 and 2024. All these Samsung TV models use LCD panels from TCL CSOT.
In 2025, Samsung is expected to expand its line-up to include even larger TVs.
- "Samsung is anticipated to introduce new models ranging from 100 inches to 115 inches, as Chinese competitors have already launched products exceeding 100 inches," reported Korean newspaper ETNews (translated).
It remains unclear whether Samsung will launch a single model or multiple options. The 115-inch LCD panel is manufactured by TCL CSOT, while the 100-inch and 110-inch LCD panels are produced by another Chinese display maker, BOE. Samsung Display no longer produces LCD TV panels.
