First 83" QD-OLED TVs rumored for 2025

09 Nov 2024 | Rasmus Larsen |

Samsung is seemingly planning to launch its first 83-inch QD-OLED TV in 2025 but also planning to extend the panel lottery to the S95 series.

Currently, Samsung Display's QD-OLED display technology, which competes with LG Display's WOLED, is available only in 55, 65 and 77 inches in TV models such as the Samsung S95D and Sony A95L.

Next year, the panel lineup could extend to 83 inches, according to Samsung's parts database, which now includes references to 2025 Samsung model numbers. This was discovered on Reddit (link) and verified by FlatpanelsHD.

The Samsung parts database includes references to both 'QD83S95FAE' and 'QE83S95FAT', suggesting that the 2025 flagship will be launched as the Samsung S95F, replacing this year's S95D and skipping the letter 'E'. However, the information also suggests that the 83-inch Samsung S95F will be available with both QD-OLED and WOLED panels, extending the panel lottery from this year's S90D to next year's S95F – at least for the 83-inch models. FAE = WOLED, while FAT = QD-OLED.

83-inch QD-OLED TVs

While the panel lottery is concerning, the potential expansion of QD-OLED technology to 83 inches next year is promising news. We are chasing additional confirmation in the coming weeks. In 2024, Samsung Display added only new monitor sizes to the QD-OLED panel line-up. However, in January, Samsung Display indicated to FlatpanelsHD that new QD-OLED TV panel sizes could arrive in 2025. This could also bring 83-inch QD-OLED panels to Sony's 2025 TV line-up, after the company refrained from upgrading its A95 series in 2024, although this is speculation right now. The 2025 models are expected to be unveiled at CES 2025 in January.
