China's Hisense aims to become the number one TV brand in the US – overtaking Samsung – in about two years.
Chinese TV brands are on the rise.
According to market data from Counterpoint, Hisense ranked second in North America for TV shipments in Q2 2024, trailing only Samsung.
- "Hisense and TCL, which have been focusing on normal LCD TVs, are trying to increase their market share by strengthening their advanced TV portfolios such as QD-LCD and Mini LED LCD," Counterpoint told CNBC.
Aiming for the top spot
The Chinese TV brand has now set its sights on the number one spot, which it believes is achievable within about two years, according to Hisense International president Catherine Fang, speaking to CNBC.
To help achieve this goal, Hisense has signed on as the first official partner of the FIFA Club World Cup, set to kick off in Miami in June 2025.
Competing with TCL
Globally, Hisense is also trailing behind Samsung and fiercely competing with another Chinese TV brand, TCL, for the second spot. TCL reclaimed the number two spot globally by a slim margin in Q2 2024, according to Counterpoint.
Both Hisense and TCL are closing in on LG in the premium TV segment.
Hisense generates half of its revenue from outside China, with North America contributing approximately 30% of its international sales.
