If you own a newer Samsung Smart TV or Fire TV sticks, you can now stream purchased Xbox games over the internet, no console required.
Microsoft had been teasing the expansion of its cloud gaming service for years, and it has finally arrived this week in beta.
In addition to the games included in the Xbox Game Pass subscription, you can now stream games you own – purchased from the Xbox store.
- "Starting today, I’m excited to announce that we’re allowing Game Pass Ultimate members to stream select games they own through TVs and browser on supported devices like smartphones, PCs, and tablets, in all 28 countries where Xbox Cloud Gaming (Beta) is available," announced Ashley McKissick, Corporate VP of Xbox Experiences & Platforms Engineering.
Works with select Smart TVs
Microsoft has yet to roll out the Xbox app required for cloud gaming to some of the most popular TV platforms such as Android TV / Google TV and Apple TV, so we hope to see more added in 2025.

It currently works only with newer Samsung Smart TVs (Tizen) and select Amazon Fire TV sticks.

Wider support next year
The company is promising wider support next year, including game streaming to Xbox consoles, so you no longer need to download the full game to get started.
"This is just the beginning. Next year, we’re excited to bring this feature to Xbox consoles and the Xbox app on Windows," said Ashley McKissick.
However, no announcements regarding support for additional TV platforms were made.
50 games at launch, more to come
Microsoft stated that 50 games are compatible at launch, with more to be added in the future.
- "We are happy to announce that over 50 great games are now available for streaming. Our library of cloud-playable titles will continue to grow, as we work with our partners around the world to bring you a diverse and expansive selection of great games across devices. You can stream any version of these games below that you own, for example Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Complete Edition," said Ashley McKissick.
