While QD-OLED looks poised to reach 500Hz, WOLED could hit 520Hz as early as CES 2025 in January, with ViewSonic teasing a 520Hz OLED monitor.
In partnership with display panel maker LG Display, ViewSonic launched its first OLED gaming monitor, XG272-2K, in April 2024.
The monitor maker is expected to take another significant step soon, likely also with a WOLED panel as the new monitor will support Dual Mode technology, currently exclusive to WOLED.
520Hz OLED monitor
The 520Hz OLED monitor was teased by ViewSonic India, though details such as the model name or photos were not provided, according to gaming news website IGN.
It will reportedly feature 4K resolution so its 520Hz mode is likely to run at 1080p (Dual Mode), depending on the aspect ratio of the panel. Additionally, it will support AMD FreeSync Premium.
Meanwhile, competing display panel maker Samsung Display is rumored to debut a 500Hz QD-OLED panel next year, meaning that 2025 could be the year when both OLED panel types break the 500Hz barrier, as the industry pushes toward the 1000Hz milestone.
