First unveiled in January, LG is now launching its first transparent OLED TV, the OLED T. While not as expensive as LG's rollable TV, it still comes with an ultra-premium price tag.
The OLED T features a transparent mode for when it is idle, and an opaque mode activated with the push of a button, which slides a black canvas behind the transparent OLED panel to make it look more like a traditional OLED TV with deep blacks and contrast.
It features a 77-inch OLED panel with 4K resolution powered by LG's Alpha 11 processor. Additionally, it uses LG's wireless Zero Connect box. The always-on display mode can showcase artwork, videos, photos and widgets.
New tech, extreme price
While LG's transparent OLED TV is intriguing, it does not quite match the futuristic appeal of LG's rollable OLED TV. Unveiled in 2019, the rollable model launched with a price tag of around $87,000 and €60,000.
LG discontinued its rollable OLED TV in 2024 after five years on the market. Time will tell if the transparent OLED TV will achieve greater success and if LG can eventually bring the price down to a more accessible level.
- "LG Signature OLED T is an exceptional user-focused innovation that offers a distinctive, multi-faceted viewing experience and unprecedented spatial flexibility," said Park Hyoung-sei, president of LG Media Entertainment. "LG remains at the forefront of innovation by combining its industry-leading OLED technology with unique form factors, transparent screens, wireless connectivity and more, delivering unparalleled, life-enriching advancements no other TV maker can replicate."
