Sony commits to a 3-year burn-in warranty for OLED monitors

28 Jan 2025 | Rasmus Larsen |

Following in the footsteps of brands like Asus, Dell and MSI, Sony has extended its warranty to cover burn-in for 3 years for OLED monitors, such as the M10S.

While the risk of burn-in appears to have decreased significantly in recent years due to improvements in OLED panel design and energy efficiency, it remains a concern as OLED expands to gaming monitors – and beyond gaming.

Asus, Dell, MSI and LG have all recently committed to covering potential burn-in on WOLED and QD-OLED panels under their warranties, and Sony is now confirming the same.

Sony's 3-year burn-in warranty

Sony has extended its limited warranty to 3 years for both the InZone M10S OLED (SDM-27Q10S) and M9 II LCD monitors announced in September.

- "The limited warranty card that accompanied the INZONE® M10S originally indicated a one-year duration. This time period has now been adjusted to three years, and coverage for OLED burn-in is included. All other terms and conditions in the limited warranty remain unchanged," Sony America announced on its support website this week. It currently applies to the USA and Canada. We are checking with Sony about other regions. Update: Sony confirms to FlatpanelsHD that it is a global announcement so the new warranty applies to all regions. Regional Sony sites will be updated soon. Samsung has yet to officially commit to covering burn-in under its warranty, according to The Verge, though a representative stated that it does cover burn-in on the 32-inch Odyssey G8. There is no official word yet on the latest 27-inch Odyssey G8. - Source: Sony via The Verge
