Philips' 2025 miniLED LCD TVs feature Ambilight Plus, Titan OS

28 Jan 2025 | Rasmus Larsen |

In addition to the 2025 OLED TVs, Philips will launch two new miniLED LCD TV ranges as well as more affordable LCD models, all featuring quantum dots. They all run on Titan OS.

The MLED910 will launch in May, while a higher-end MLED950 will join the line-up in September with the expanded Ambilight Plus mood lighting solution. These will compete with miniLED models from the likes of Hisense, Samsung and TCL.

In addition, Philips will introduce a range of mid-range LCD TVs, including PUS9000, otherwise known as 'The One'. Additional mid-range models will be announced later.

Ambilight Plus in MLED950

At its 2025 launch event today in Barcelona, Philips said that the miniLED LCD models will be positioned just below the OLED models. However, only MLED950 will feature the Ambilight Plus system, first unveiled last year. Ambilight Plus expands and refines the mood lighting effect by using dome-shaped lenses and individual LEDs. MLED950 will be available in 65 and 75 inches with a 144Hz LCD panel and miniLED zone dimming – the number of zones was not disclosed. It delivers up to 1200 nits peak brightness and 98% DCI-P3, according to Philips, and is powered by the 7th Gen P5 AI processor, which gains some (AI Adaptive Intelligence, AI Adaptive Gamut) of the new AI features. The MLED910 will be available in 55 to 85 inches with a 144Hz LCD panel delivering up to 1000 nits peak brightness and 93% DCI-P3. In other words, OLED TVs now deliver significantly higher peak brightness than LCD TVs in Philips' line-up.

Titan OS updates

Last year, Philips switched from Google TV to Titan OS in most of its TVs, except for high-end OLED. This year, Titan OS has received a number of updates, according to Philips. - "Viewers can also enjoy the improved, faster, and more intuitive experience of the updated
Titan OS Smart TV platform including Game Bar 2.0 with access to Blacknut and Boosteroid cloud gaming services," said Philips. "All 2025 Philips TVs are compatible with the new Moments app, allowing the fast & easy transfer of favourite photos from mobile devices to the TV, with the option to add templates, audio, transitions, special effects, and filters while viewing on the big screen." The Titan OS models will have four HDMI 2.1-bandwidth ports, as opposed to two ports on the MediaTek-based OLED ranges. Full specifications can be found in the TV Database below. Pricing will be announced later.
