Streaming service Max is replacing its top menu with a sidebar – just like Netflix. The refreshed user interface is rolling out gradually on TV devices.
Warner Bros Discovery said that the updated TV interface will be introduced via an app update on connected TV platforms, including Apple TV, Google TV, Roku, Fire TV, Tizen, webOS and more.
The update removes the top navigation menu, shifting all navigation to a sidebar on the left. Netflix made a similar change with a redesign in mid-2018.
- "This update also introduces 'What’s New,' a new navigation page showcasing content that has recently arrived on the platform, as well as those coming or leaving soon, and 'Categories,' a new pathway for users to browse titles by genre, brand, and thematic collections," announced Max.
Gradual global rollout
The company confirmed that the update will roll out globally but in phases, so expect the app update in the coming weeks and months.
- "The global UI update, which is slightly modified across regions to fit local needs, follows successful tests in Latin America and will begin with a phased roll out approach, initially launching for a small number of users and increasing over time," said Max.
