Display panel maker LG Display has announced the start of mass production for a new 45-inch OLED panel with the "world's best picture quality" for gaming monitors.
Sales of OLED and QD-OLED gaming monitors have surged since the launch of the first models in 2022. Soon, a new 45-inch option will hit the market.
The 45-inch OLED panel from LG Display, now in mass production, features a 5120x2160 resolution with a 21:9 aspect ratio, for approximately 11 million pixels – more than five times the resolution of Full HD. This is also a significant upgrade from LG Display's previous 45-inch panel, which offered a 3440x1440 resolution.
World's best picture quality?
In addition to being the highest-resolution OLED panel for gaming, it offers up to 1300 nits of peak brightness, true black levels, and a 165Hz refresh rate at full resolution or 330Hz at half resolution. The panel is flicker-free and features an anti-glare coating.
LG Display asserts that these attributes combine to deliver the "world's best picture quality" in a monitor. At CES 2025, Samsung Display revealed two new 5-layer QD-OLED panels.
The new 45-inch panel will debut in the 45GX950A and 45GX990A bendable monitors from LG Electronics later in 2025. It may also be adopted by other manufacturers in the future.

Primary RGB Tandem coming later
LG Display reiterated that its Primary RGB Tandem technology, which will first debut in OLED TV panels, will gradually be adopted in monitors as well. The new 45-inch 5K2K panel will not have it.
- "LG Display also recently announced that its Primary RGB Tandem technology, which is being introduced to OLED TV panels, will gradually be applied to monitors. This technology reorganizes the existing 3-Stack structure of two blue layers and a single red, green, and yellow layer into a 4-Stack structure made up of four layers featuring two blue elements and independent layers of red and green elements. This significantly improves screen brightness, color reproduction, and energy efficiency," said LG Display.
The company is currently using microlenses in OLED monitor panels.
