Netflix and Max usually dominate the headlines with popular series but Apple TV+ has struck gold with Severance, a hit loved by both viewers and critics.
According to Nielsen, Severance made it into the top-4 of the most popular series in the US during its second season's premiere week.
Five episodes of season 2 have now been released, but Nielsen's figures are yet to be compiled. Nielsen only tracks viewing on TVs – not computers, phones or tablets.

More popular than Ted Lasso
The fact that Severance has surpassed Ted Lasso as the most popular series on Apple TV+ comes straight from the horse's mouth. Ted Lasso was the first major hit on Apple TV+.
Apple specifically said that the first season and half of the second season of Severance have attracted more viewers than any other series on its Apple TV+ streaming service, including all three seasons of Ted Lasso, as reported by Deadline.
- "We have long admired Ben’s extraordinary gift for original and immersive storytelling, and with he and Dan at the helm, Severance has proven to be an extraordinary success and a cultural phenomenon," says Matt Cherniss, head of programming at Apple TV+. "The series has become an obsession for audiences all over the world and we can’t wait for people to continue to experience all the masterful twists and turns as the rest of the season unfolds."
Another Apple TV+ title that has managed to break into the top-10, traditionally dominated by Netflix's titles, is the sci-fi series Silo.
