LG's Gaming Portal, including Xbox app, will expand to more devices

21 Feb 2025 | Rasmus Larsen |

The Gaming Portal, which features apps like Nvidia GeForce Now, Amazon Luna and soon Xbox, will expand to more screens and markets.

It is currently available on LG Smart TVs running webOS 23 and later in 19 markets: Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, Ireland, Mexico, Netherlands, Poland, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Türkiye, UK and USA.

LG said that it will be available in additional markets beyond the current 19 but did not provide a list.

- "The service will extend to additional markets, platforms and devices – including LG Smart Monitors and StanbyME lifestyle screens – by the second quarter of the year. This expansion aims to enhance the overall game streaming experience by providing seamless access to popular and new titles," said LG.

GeForce Now, Xbox, Luna

An alternative to Samsung's Gaming Hub, which is currently available on Samsung TVs and smart monitors in select regions, LG's Gaming Portal provides access to cloud gaming, or game streaming. In other words, you can access many of the latest and greatest games directly on your TV – no console or PC required –via apps such as Nvidia GeForce Now, Xbox, Amazon Luna, Boosteroid and Blacknut. LG announced the partnership with Xbox at CES in January.

Some games can be played with LG's remote control, but most require a Bluetooth game controller connected wirelessly to the TV. - "Users can navigate a curated app list that includes cloud gaming apps, webOS app games playable with the remote control, recently played titles, the top 10 trending games, editor’s picks and other personalized user-friendly gaming options," said LG. The Xbox app is currently limited to Samsung TVs and soon LG TVs, while some of the other cloud gaming apps are also available on alternative TV platforms such as Google TV and Fire TV.
