Thomson is launching a new streaming box in Europe – available in black or white – running Google TV. It supports 4K, Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos and WiFi 6.
This streaming box competes with the Apple TV 4K, Google TV Streamer and Nvidia Shield, offering more power and updated features compared to Thomson's previous box and streaming stick.
The French brand Thomson, now under StreamView, has named the two versions Streaming Box Plus 270 and 270W, with the only difference being the color. Thomson provides a 3-year factory warranty in Europe.
Google TV and 4K
The boxes run Google TV, offering access to local and international apps like Disney+, Max and Netflix. As expected from Google TV devices, they also feature built-in Google Cast (Chromecast).
Supporting 4K, HDR10, Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos audio, the boxes are powered by an Amlogic chip with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage. They also include WiFi 6 and a USB 3.0 port.

Like most modern boxes, it connects to the TV via HDMI and can be controlled using the included remote or the TV's remote via HDMI CEC. This allows the box to be hidden while taking over the TV's smart features or upgrading an older TV.
The Thomson Streaming Box Plus 270 is available now in Europe with a suggested retail price of 130 Euro, but it's already selling for 100 Euro. The white version (270W) will be available starting in April.
