2025 OLEDs are Samsung's first G-Sync certified TVs

While previous Samsung TVs already support VRR with Nvidia GPUs, the 2025 OLED models are the first to receive official G-Sync Compatible certification from Nvidia.

Samsung announced the news in a press release.

- "With the addition of Nvidia G-Sync compatibility and our most advanced gaming features yet, Samsung’s 2025 OLED TVs deliver elite-level performance for even the most competitive players," said Kevin Lee, EVP of the Visual Display Customer Experience, Samsung Electronics.

Samsung's best gaming TVs

Like HDMI 2.1 VRR and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro, which the TVs are already certified for, G-Sync lets the TV match its refresh rate to the GPU’s frame rate for smoother gameplay with less input lag, stutter and screen tearing. Samsung's 2025 OLED TVs support VRR, including G-Sync, up to 165Hz with PCs. However, be aware game consoles like PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X support VRR only up to 120Hz and do not support G-Sync. Thanks to the WOLED and QD-OLED panels’ ultra-fast response time and high native picture quality, including full HDR picture quality even in Game mode, the OLEDs are Samsung’s best TVs for gaming. Samsung also noted support for HDMI 2.1’s ALLM (Auto Low Latency Mode) and built-in cloud gaming apps such as Xbox and Nvidia GeForce Now. However, note that VRR is not currently supported with cloud gaming.

Now certified by Nvidia

Samsung TVs have long supported G-Sync over HDMI 2.1 VRR, which is a standardized method for enabling variable refresh rates over HDMI. What's new is that the 2025 OLED TVs are now officially tested and certified by Nvidia as G-Sync Compatible – similar to LG’s OLED TVs. The same does not apply to Samsung's LCD TVs such as the 'Neo QLED' models. While they typically work with G-Sync, they have not received certification. Nvidia has not historically certified LCD TVs due to the inherently slower response times of LCD panels. This likely explains why Samsung’s G-Sync announcement is limited to OLED models. The company has not commented on whether older OLED models, including those from 2024, will be certified. Samsung confirmed that 2025 flagship S95F will be the first to receive a firmware update enabling the certified G-Sync Compatible mode, followed by the S90F and S85F models.
